  • The Old Man and the Sea
Not an outright bad book, but not a fabulous fable like other small stories. Metaphorically, it is fine, as it has lot of symbols and signs to let you relate things. But the story? Nice story, had it been told in 5-6 pages. In terms of storytelling, it drags and bores a lot. Still what somehow works is how the old man, the sea, and the boy and the connection between them are painted and described very well. However, to me, the technical terms and processes about fishing appear uninteresting after some time. Maybe that's why, the story tends to be forgotten after finishing the book.

  • Dork - The Incredible Adventures Of Robin Varghese
An okay read to accompany your travel. This is the first of the trilogy on the adventures of a management graduate, who is stupid, irritating, somehow funny, obnoxious, but somehow makes a lot of things happen around him. The main character is very nicely developed but you don't quite connect with him, which I had expected before picking the book. However, considering the character's scale and nature, the story flow is mostly okay, barring few chapters where things proceed abruptly. I somehow think that it would have worked well if the author could talk a little more about other characters and the main character was a little bearable.

Overall, you can read the book if you want, it's a light read anyway. But it's fresh in comparison to dozens of books released in India every month by IIM and/or IIT alumnus about IIM and/or IIT. The diary style works well too. Be forwarned, there's nothing hilarious or literary in the book. You would not connect with, agree with, or laugh at the characters, rather you will be irritated or disgusted, or at the most, you will sympathize. I won't go for the other two books of this trilogy. Sidin's tweets are better than the book, IMO! :)

  • Ek Mantri Swarglok Mein
Finished reading this Hindi satirical novel while vacationing at my village. Fairly nice novel and funny at chunks. Of course not at par with works like Raag Darbaari, but a good one nonetheless.

The Interview (2014)
Not bad actually. Started too well with the inside jokes, meta references, & cameos, faltered in the middle but almost lifted up by the brilliant performance from Randall Park, and ended with a BANG. Njoible!
